Enterproid, a mobile startup, has now come up with an application that creates a separate business profile section in the phone.
The application opens a separate interface for corporate communications including SMS, email and text messages. The corporate messages are protected by a password which are accessible to the user and IT departments only.
Personal messages, emails and SMSes are inaccessible to the IT departments.
All the enterprise features such as remote wipe tool and cloud-based device management are also there. The remote tool doesn't delete the personal messages in the smartphone. The business profile, however, doesn't get any app store access. The apps downloaded for personal use may be opened manually on the business profile .
The app is aptly named Divide and is available for free as it is a beta version right now. It is likely to adopt a subscription based business model once it comes out of beta.

2. Be careful while pocketing your phone
Men often clumsily put their phone in their pocket along with keys, coins and many other inhabitants, while women put them in there purse where it shares space with lipsticks, combs and many other things I know of, but the phone doesn't want to share its space and will end up with a scratched body and screen, broken screen, and worst of all, broken circuits.
The best way to protect your phone is to assign a separate space for it in your pocket or purse. If you travel in a personal vehicle, you can also opt for a phone holster that can be attached to your belt (not a good idea in a crowded bus or train, for it is an open invitation to thieves). These holsters have the dual benefit of protecting your phone while protecting you from harmful radiation. If you travel in public transport, try a phone pouch.
3. Keep it the way you keep medicine
Keep it in a cool and dry place. Do not keep your phone in direct sun light and avoid keeping it on the dash board of your car, for it's very hot there due to the green house effect. The place near the gear shift is the best place in a car.
Moisture is another thing you need to avoid, so if you are sweating, don't keep your phone in your jeans' pocket. If you do accidentally drop your phone in water, remove all the detachable components immediately and let the phone dry (you can use a hair dryer for faster drying, though you shouldn't overdo it), visit a technician and get the phone cleaned from inside (don't do it yourself).

I've had one of these headset amplifiers for over a year now.

I like to talk on my cell phone while driving, but only with a headset. I found a couple of different headsets that have earpieces that actually mount in your ear. They were great for blocking out ambient noise, but the people I called had a hard time hearing me.

So I tried a couple of over-the-head style "full headsets"--the bulkier type that have a band that goes over your head and a microphone on a long boom that can be adjusted so that it is directly in front of your mouth. People could hear me great on these headsets, but even on my cell phone's loudest setting I couldn't hear them well.

That's when I found this headset amplifier. When I use it with my bulkier headsets I can have a cell phone conversation in either of my cars and hear what is being said. The amplifier is adjustable and is quite loud at its loudest setting (it would be great for people with hearing problems).

This headset has a few drawbacks. First, it is voice activated to save batteries. So, if the person you are speaking to doesn't say anything for several seconds, it can sound like they hung up on you. You get used to this after a while.

It is only really a problem when I'm on hold and the hold music is not loud enough to keep the amplifier activated. When this happens, I press a status button on my cell phone periodically. The "beep" pressing the button makes activates the amplifier, thus letting me hear the hold music and know that I am still connected.

The amplifier takes three watch-size batteries that cost around a couple to a few bucks each. The batteries last a fair amount of time, but the cost adds up over time. I would give this headset an enthusiastic 5 stars if it had a cigarette lighter plug as an optional power source.

I should also mention that battery door isn't very secure. It has opened on me a few times.

Despite its limitations, I give this amplifier 4 stars because it has solved a problem for me. And as far as I can tell, it is the only such device made.

Strengthening its position in the smartphone market, Hewlett-Packard (HP) recently added a collection of smart phones. The giant U.S. computer manufacturer was immediately presented two smartphones that have a sliding design like the BlackBerry Torch is named HP Veer and HP Pre 3 webOS

After waiting long enough, eventually the results of HP's acquisition of Palm to fruition. Just like the HP tablet touchpad, the two latest smartphone will come with a WebOS.

We start with the successor Pre 2: HP Pre 3. This smartphone has a capacitive touch screen of 3.6 inch WVGA resolution 480x800 pixels large. Similar to the BlackBerry Torch, it also comes with a Qwerty keypad slider at the bottom.

HP Pre 3 has a 5 MP camera, complete with autofocus and LED flash. HP also added at 1.3 MP front camera for video calls needs. Eliminating the impression cheap phone, HP also provides Snapdragon 1.4 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM memory.

Connectivity is relatively standard. There are 3G HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, EV-DO (if changed to a mode CDMA), Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB 2.0. The rest, the phone has an accelerometer sensor, light sensor, GPS, and digital compass.

Then HP Veer is the second new smartphone from HP. Similar to the palm Pre ? HP Veer also comes with a Qwerty keypad slider at the bottom. Only, HP Veer smaller and compact than HP's Pre 3. In addition, HP Web Veer also run OS 2.2.

HP Veer offers capacitive touch screen without the frame at 2.6 inches, is equipped with multi-touch features and a resolution of 320 x 400 pixels, smaller than Pre 3.

If you see a brief physical, HP Veer looks more robust. But, for performance, the processor is not as smartphones with Pre 3, only a 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 7230.

HP Connectivity Veer equipped with HSPA +, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB 2.0. There is no CDMA network here. However, HP Veer has a 5 MP camera as well even without autofocus.

Because you WILL drop your phone. Thats the slogan I would use if I was Otterbox. You will drop it, many times. It amazes me how many people think they are above dropping their phone. The iphone4 is a slippery devil and you must protect it. When I first saw the case in an AT&T store I knew that someone had finally got it right. However, at 50 bucks, I knew I could get it cheaper online (and did). The case is very attractive (the white is a bit more of a greyish white and I honestly think it improves the appearance of my already attractive Iphone 4. All the buttons work perfectly (I swear I think its more responsive now and it keeps debris and dust outta all the ports.

If you are willing to spend 10 bucks on a case, then you should be willing to spend more to truly protect your phone. This is the only solution that i've seen to keeping your expensive Iphone, clean, safe, and functioning at all times. The case does add size to the phone though and with the holster it adds a lot of bulk, but its not bad. This is a smart purchase, trust me.


The Otterbox cases are probably one of the best iPhone cases around, and Amazon is awesome and sells it for less than in stores (store price is around $50, Amazon was less than $30). I was a little apprehensive about this case at first because it is so bulky and takes away from the sleek look of the iPhone 4. However, I have a really bad habit of dropping my cell phones and decided that I would rather have a slightly bulky case that protects my phone than risk dropping it and shattering the screen (which I had done with a previous iPhone) and then having to pay a few hundred dollars to replace it. This case is really thick (has a plastic case covered by a thick rubber skin) and I am pretty confident that if I dropped it, there would be no damage to the phone. The case also gives you a better grip on the phone than when there is no case at all. This particular case is black and white, though other color combinations are also available. I'd definitely recommend this case to anyone who fears dropping and breaking their iPhone.


You won't be worried about a broken screen with the Otter Box! I even feel comfortable letting my 2-year-old play with the phone independently. It is bulky, but doesn't add too much extra weight. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase!

I bought and installed this system about three months ago to watch over our retail store, and have been happy with it. My biggest complaint is the instruction manual - the Chinese manufacturer must have skimped on how much they were paying their Chinese to English translator. It's not a hard system to set up until you get to the internet and iphone functionality - here the instructions often left me scratching my head, but with some time, trial & error, I figured everything out. I suppose someone well versed in networking protocols would breeze through this setup in a snap, but it took me quite a few hours to figure it out and dial everything in.

That said, it's really super awesome to be able to dial up my store on my iphone any time day or night, or watch it in better resolution on my partner's laptop (the iphone resolution is on the low side from the compression used). The cameras are not very sharp, but they are adequate. The night vision works well and the motion detection seems good. I think I've been getting about a month's worth of video stored on the hard drive before it starts to re-write over itself, with the dvr set to record on motion only. I haven't tried the audio recording yet, but i just bought a mic so we'll see. The interface in the dvr itself is pretty clunky - looks almost like a pre-windows dos sort of deal, though it does use a mouse. It's best to access everything through the windows explorer plug-in (once you figure out how to install the damn thing). The plug-in works well, allowing you to access all of the dvr's functionality over the internet, from adjusting settings to downloading and saving video files.

One other mark against this unit is the format it stores its video files in: ".264" I wasn't able to find any kind of application for a mac that could play this file - quicktime didn't like it, and neither did anything else I tried it on. ".264" is the file extension on files you get when you put a thumb drive directly into the unit and tell it to offload files. Luckily, if you use the explorer plug-in over the internet, it will download these files and you can watch them immediately through the plug-in, and it gives you the option to output them as .avi files. One more reason to only access this unit through the internet interface. Oh, and the usb port on the unit only likes thumb drives, not hard drives. Also, it seems that the internet explorer plug-in only works on a pc (i have to use my girlfriend's computer). There might be a workaround for this, but I haven't figured that out yet.

Overall, it's a great unit for the price. In October of 2009, 8 camera dvr systems were running around $1200 everywhere I looked, so this unit was a real bargain at nearly half the price. I'd probably give it 3 stars for the instruction manual language headaches, weird video format, and clunky dvr interface. Since it's so cheap, gets the job done, and has the cool iphone and internet explorer plug-ins, i give it 4 stars.


I've owned this system for about 2 months.

The quality of picture is very good in day light and OK at night using infrared, it looks like a very grainy black and white picture. (I have the eight camera system which does not allow for HD recording which the four camera system says can.)

The motion detection feature is close to useless. Shadows of my trees blowing in the wind, bugs flying in front of the camera lens, and the across the street neighbor's patio light at night will turn the recorder on but people walking up my driveway, down my walk, and ringing my front door bell won't and I have four different cameras covering these views (and it's a tiny area compared to most).

The recording and playback system is a problem too because it saves recorded files in half hour increments for you to access. So, if the camera motion detector picks up a bug flying in front of your camera and turns the camera on for two minutes at say 4:03 - 4:05 and then a real event happens at say 4:15 it won't record it because there is already a file in the 4:00 - 4:30 slot.

It will play back recordings at normal speed or 2, 4, or 8 times speed. You must manually select every half hour recording slot for every camera. I haven't found a "play back all" feature. This wouldn't be a problem if the motion detector worked correctly and you only had a half a dozen recordings to review a day but many false recordings means a lot a work reviewing what's been recorded.

I haven't tried the live view over the internet options.

So what are my options? Uninstall all the wiring run through the attic and un-mount the cameras (at considerable cost) and return it? Run it in continuous record and not bother reviewing recordings until I think something happens? I haven't decided.

FYI, as usual, Amazon delivered this system in less than five days even though I used the free delivery option.
